The second-hand enduro MTB is a derivative of motorbikes that is starting to become mainstream, thanks to advances in MTB technology. Enduro is a downhill discipline.
What is Enduro MTB?
Essentially on singletrack (small single-line trails). An enduro race is made up of "special stages" and liaisons, which let you get to the start of each special stage.
The special stages are the downhill sections. This is where the clock is decided in enduro! The start is individual, and the organisers stagger the starts of the first stage to pace them and space the enduro participants out as well as possible.
The liaisons are the sections that link the end of a special stage to the start of the next. This route is not timed, so everyone is free to go at their own pace!
Your goal? Spend as little time as possible in the special stages: you often need to accelerate again on flat or rolling sections, which lets you gain precious seconds. In the end, the winner of the enduro race is whoever has the best cumulative time over all the special stages!
How to choose your second-hand enduro MTB ?
As you will have understood, in Enduro every second counts: no way are you going to be held back by an obstacle or a badly absorbed impact! Enduro MTBs are generally **full-suspension MTBs** fitted with suspension big enough to absorb impacts, as well as **light, aerodynamic frames.** These improvements let riders be more **efficient**: light, fast, but able to absorb the substantial impacts typical of enduro courses. Enduro MTBs are able to climb bumps quickly, yet remain highly **manoeuvrable** on descents. On Troc-Vélo, you can find all these new and second-hand enduro MTBs.
**The choice of wheels for your second-hand enduro MTB is important**: an MTB with 27.5” wheels will be a manoeuvrable bike that is at ease on jumps and tight turns. But **29’’ wheels** are better suited and give the Enduro MTB greater stability on rough terrain. These larger wheels can gain precious seconds on accelerations and the most technical sections. But it depends on each person's preferences and strengths: nobody rides enduro in the same way.
As for the **materials** used and the build (suspension, drivetrain and cockpit), it depends only on your end use and your habits. You can always modify your MTB with bike accessories later.
The **enduro MTB** is gaining more and more followers. It is a fast-growing discipline in which you can quickly have fun and which is accessible to as many people as possible, combining competition and leisure. Halfway between cross-country and DH MTB (downhill MTB), it is a very complete discipline. On Troc-Vélo, you will be able to find many second-hand **enduro MTBs** from the biggest brands.
